Frequently asked questions
Does it connect to our electronic health record system?
No. Staff use exports, scans, and recordings to prepare notes, letters, appeals, summaries, and searches. A Node works outside your electronic health record (EHR) system and has no vendor connection into it. EHR integration requires a different product.
Is this an ambient scribe?
With a speech model installed, a Node drafts visit notes from recordings processed on the machine. Dedicated scribe services offer a more specialized documentation workflow. A Node supports local note drafting and the other tasks listed on this page.
Does it make us HIPAA compliant?
No. Hardware alone does not make a practice HIPAA compliant. A standard Node processes AI tasks and protected health information (PHI) inside your practice. Splay does not keep copies of practice files or backups. Any support that could expose customer data must be specifically authorized and documented. Whether a business associate agreement is required depends on the services and access you authorize. Review those arrangements with your privacy counsel.
